A Cushion for Your Thoughts

This week I’ve been feeling inspired as the first month of 2019 is coming to a close. Most of us are just doing our best to get through the ‘Heatwave’ we are having in NZ. I think we are starting to hit that moment (above 30 degrees C) where we begin to wish for cooler weather. Sometimes the only place we can find solace is in the shelter of our homes, when the sun is blistering and wind is scarce. The heat can certainly be stressful for those particularly in trade occupations, so returning home at the end of the day to enjoy the inside cool of their home is truly the best reward. So, I thought why not make it more rewarding and give away something to a home lover to make their February just that little more awesome. Cushions!!!

Sometimes we don’t need to re decorate, we just need a change. An injection of vibrancy, texture or pattern to get us back to being excited about our humble homes that we call our castle. Soft furnishings are the best most readily available and easy way to achieve all of this. Weather you grab off shelf or go custom made a couple of cushions can be just what was needed.

With this duo I’ve whipped up (for our January Giveaway) you can see that this style of cushion will add bucket loads of texture with the gorgeous soft pile of the green velvet and button detailing, as well as a fresh perspective on pattern on the front. I absolutely love a two-sided cushion cover! You can be all sophisticated during the day and all party at night just by flipping them over.

*Tip* When buying cushions off the rack make sure your happy with both sides so that they can be reversable and more versatile. If your sewing them yourself or having them custom made think up whether you like button downs, zips, or even ties. They are a great detail that can be equally as decorative as the fabric you choose.

I know some people don’t love a whole lot of cushions either and that’s fine, I’m good with that. You don’t have to overload if its not your style. Even more reason to go reversable. You’ll get a splash of the reverse when you give them a ‘Karate’ chop in the centre.

If your one of my New Zealand readers and want a chance to win the giveaway cushions simply whip on over to my Facebook @lozinteriordesign or Instagram @lozinteriors page and like the post picturing the cushions. Don’t forget to tag in other home lovers as well.
