Or in this case 575 LOL!

Have you ever driven past a building in an industrial zone and wondered what it would look like with a professional paint job and colour scheme?

Some of my commercial jobs have been so satisfying because they were buildings that were crying out for a bit of TLC or an identity overhaul.

I’ve been fortunate over the past few years to collaborate with Bay Deccorators in Rotorua on many commercial buildings including Retail/Industrial/Schools and Businesses. So, I was only too happy to come running when they asked for my consultation for their new HQ in 2017.

Digital Photoshop Render of Pururu St Offices

Upon seeing the site for the first time it was clear that it was well due for it’s ‘Identity Overhaul’. As well as needing to reflect the quality workmanship of the occupying businesses. Because there was going to be multiple companies utilizing the building it was important not to lock in a business brand, but rather provide a non-polarizing, welcoming hub for business meetings and prospective clients. Therefore, we decided to use a more residential approach with a subtle corporate edge that would stick within a palette of 3 neutral tones.

*Tip* To get started make a list of what elements or fixed finishes are being kept. For example, here we were keeping the existing aluminum windows/doors & the roller door. This often helps me to get colour direction and prompts to make certain I don’t forget to make the old work well with the new.

This particular project was a great opportunity to provide some Digital Rendering as there was ultimately an entire team that were going to weigh in on the design. It’s a tool I love to incorporate especially into my Exterior Colour Schemes as it’s sound way of express my vision for the project. As we all know A Picture = 1000 words. As long as we can get a clean & clear image to work with then typically, I can render up an accurate representation of the proposed scheme.

Before and After Stage 1 featuring Dulux Mavora and Midhirst

In this scheme the major changes were to carry the Colorsteel Grey Friars roof colour down on the spouting & downpipes. As well as deciding on the split top & bottom for dark vs light. Even though the Garage is not multi-level we decided to carry the colour across from the offices. This gesture will make the two sides feel more connected, especially with the mixture of cladding.

*Tip* Dark Spouting/Fascia can be more practical, white shows up dust, mold & moss much quicker.

As a subtle nod to the business branding, we chose to put a splash of red in the door way. Red is known as a popular residential front door colour, welcoming positive energy & wealth. For a commercial building like this, it also helps direct visitors to the correct entrance.

Stage 1 of the Office Exterior has now been completed. Stage 2 will soon follow once some of the cladding has had an upgrade. Completed images will then follow. We also have some exciting elements planned for the interior so I’ll keep you posted there as well.

If you are thinking of redecorating the exterior of your home or business and want to know more about having a rendering done, please pop a comment below. I can also put you in touch with Bay Decorators if your local to the Bay of Plenty and are looking to have some professional decorating work done.
